Toot Your Horn Tuesday: Clearing the Clutter

This Toot Your Horn Tuesday is going to be dedicated to the decluttering of my life. Yes, that's right. My life. I am in the process of trying to simplify my life, reorganize it, and make it a little more sensible. For someone like me, that involves quite a bit of sorting, organizing, tossing out/getting rid of, and more organizing. It's something I've wanted to do for quite some time, but never got around to it. Now that I don't have a job, I have the time.

On my list:
1. The files in and on my desk.
2. My desk.
3. The bin in my closet.
4. My closet. (See where this is going?)
5. My shoes. (Yes, I do have that many.)
6. Selling books.
7. Selling beanie babies. (I do still have them.)

I think that's all that is on my list. At least, I really hope so. I'm sure I'll find more items to add as I go along and try to clear up and declutter my room and my life. However, so far I have gotten my files organized (for the most part). I still have a bit to do there, but not much. My actual desk is about as organized as it's going get. Actually, it's an ongoing process as my desk tends to be the place where I dump everything. Don't know what to do with it, desk. Needs to be put away at some point, desk. Purse, desk. Receipts, desk. Miscellanious papers, pens, chapstick, etc., desk. You get the picture. Strangely enough though, I know exactly where everything is.

As for the rest of my list, I'm currently working on selling the beanie babies and the books, trying to find out what they're worth and what I can actually sell them for. (Anyone here interested? The books are Calvin and Hobbes collections, and the beanie babies are assorted. Ask if interested.) The bin, closet, and shoes are on the waiting list. In the meantime though, I'm actually getting things done and it feels great. Yay me!

Another Toot Your Horn!

I've only done this once before, and honestly, I did not think I did a very good job. So, I'm going to try it again. I know I have not done it in a few weeks, but I had nothing to toot about, unfortunately. I do now though! Check out Leah's blog for more!

In the past two days I've accomplished more than I have in the past month. I finished filling out and mailing (almost all) COBRA forms, organized my desk, am working on organizing my shoes (provided I can find a decent shoe rack), am applying to and following up on jobs, and helping out a family friend at his office (not getting paid, though). I still have not tackled my filing project yet, but one thing at a time.

On another note, I'm going away this weekend with my boyfriend and another couple who are friends of ours. We were originally going to go to Vegas, but that fell through. I was determined to go somewhere, especially considering my time with my boyfriend is now really coming to a close. All I wanted is to go away with him once before he leaves for three years. Just him and me, spending time together, without worrying about anything else. And I got it! I convinced him, and our friends, to go to the Dells. So, Friday we are all heading up there. Yay!

That's all I have this week. Maybe next week I'll have some better ones from the Dells. In the meantime, happy tooting!

Toot Your Horn Tuesday!

I was invited to join this by Leah, from A Silly Little Sparrow, so I figured I would give it a shot. I'm going to let all of you know what good I've done this week, as opposed to Mondays, where I tell everyone the bad. It will be nice to change things up and let everyone know that I really am a smart, good person and not the wacky ditz I usually appear to be on Not Me! Mondays.

This week has actually not been the best of weeks for me. Not only did I catch a bad cold, which of course made me feel miserable, but I spilled coffee on my computer, which led me to spend $1200 today on a new one. Fortunately for me (and this is where I toot my horn, sort of), my computer genius of a boyfriend was able to take the hard drive from my old computer and put it into my new computer. It's as if nothing happened. He's really amazing at these kind of things. Granted, sometimes (ok, often), it's hard to get him out the door and he always has to be right, but he makes up for it when he does things like this.

Not only did he do that, but he also went with me yesterday (when the incident happened) and today to the computer store, helped me figure out which computer I wanted and researched them with me, and let me use his awesome discount on the computer.

OK, so that was more of me tooting his horn. But now I will toot mine: Do I not have great taste in boyfriends or what? I sure know how to pick 'em! ;)
